Nuscents-Led Data
Each month, the UK Scent Index highlights the fragrance notes showing the strongest year-on-year growth across Nuscents search, sales and customer interest data. These figures are based on Nuscents-led trend analysis and are designed to show changing consumer behaviour across home fragrance.
Tropical citrus scents saw the strongest year-on-year rise, with Coconut Lime, Pink Sands and brighter holiday-style profiles gaining serious momentum in April.
Outdoor-style fragrances grew strongly as shoppers searched for fresher spring scents, including fresh cut grass, airy florals and clean garden-inspired profiles.
Oud softened but stayed firmly in growth, with richer floral-woody blends appealing to shoppers looking for luxury scents that still felt suitable for spring.
April 2026 Findings
April marked the UK's transition into warmer-weather fragrance preferences. Tropical, floral and outdoor-inspired scents gained momentum, while classic laundry fragrances remained popular but no longer dominated the market as they had earlier in spring.
Pink Sands, Coconut Lime and other sunshine-inspired fragrances climbed rapidly as consumers began searching for brighter, holiday-style home scents.
Spring Awakening, Fresh Linen and Clean Cotton remained among the UK's biggest fragrances, but their dominance eased as seasonal preferences broadened.
Oud and Velvet Peony & Oud continued attracting strong interest, showing premium fragrance profiles remained popular alongside fresher spring scents.
Fresh Cut Grass, Summer Breeze and seasonal florals entered the index as warmer weather encouraged consumers to embrace fresher, nature-inspired fragrances.
Why Trust The Index?
The UK Scent Index is designed to be a practical monthly snapshot of home fragrance demand, not just a list of bestsellers.
We consider how people are actively searching for scents, fragrance families and home fragrance products in the UK.
We look at emerging AI-led search interest to spot fragrance themes that may be growing before they become obvious elsewhere.
Real customer purchasing behaviour helps balance search interest with what people are actually buying.
Seasonality, fragrance families, wider category trends and product demand are reviewed together rather than in isolation.
Methodology
Each scent is given an index score out of 100. The score combines search demand, AI search interest, Nuscents sales data, monthly movement and wider market signals. The result is a balanced view of what the UK appears to be interested in, not just what sold most in one shop.
Regional Surprise
Each month, the UK Scent Index highlights standout regional shifts from Nuscents-led search, sales and customer interest data.
Tropical and beach-style fragrances over-indexed strongly in April as coastal shoppers moved earlier than expected towards sunshine, holiday and fresh-air scent profiles.
+47% vs UK averageOutdoor green fragrances gained unusual momentum across the East Midlands, suggesting garden-inspired scents were becoming a stronger spring signal than classic laundry alone.
#1 outdoor scent moverWhile tropical scents surged nationally, Cardiff showed stronger interest in richer floral-woody blends, keeping oud visible beyond its March peak.
+32% YoY demandMethodology note: Regional Surprise is based on Nuscents-led search behaviour, customer demand signals, product engagement and regional fragrance category trends. It is intended as a directional indicator of UK home fragrance interest.
