An Inspired Desire For Dupe Perfume: Our EDP Story
Share
Introduction
At Nuscents, we believe that luxury shouldn’t come with an unreachable price tag. Our journey into creating Eau De Parfum (EDP) began with a simple idea: making high-quality fragrances accessible to everyone. Here’s how we turned that idea into reality and why our perfumes may just find their way into your daily routine.
A Dream in the Making
Our fragrance journey didn't begin with EDPs. We started with home fragrances, building a brand focused on quality and value. Yet, in the back of our minds, we always hoped to expand into perfumes. The transition wasn’t immediate; it was a costly venture that required time, patience, and a lot of testing. Over 2-3 years, we intermittently worked on perfecting our formula, ensuring we could eventually offer a product that met our standards without breaking the bank for our customers.
Making Luxury Affordable
Our primary goal has always been clear: helping people spend less without sacrificing quality. When we finally launched our EDP line in 2021, the response was overwhelming. At that time, very few brands were offering designer-inspired perfumes, especially at affordable prices. While more brands have entered the space since, many use off-the-shelf fragrance oils. We aimed higher, taking our time to develop something more nuanced.
Challenges and Triumphs
Starting an EDP line wasn’t without its challenges. Trust was one of the biggest hurdles. Customers often form strong attachments to their favourite fragrances, and even slight differences can be noticeable to an avid wearer. While the feedback was overwhelmingly positive, a few critical comments were tough, especially considering our aim was to deliver designer-inspired perfumes at a fraction of the cost. We understood that while achieving a perfect match was nearly impossible, delivering a high-quality scent profile with reasonable longevity was within reach—and that’s what we committed to.
Drawing on Experience
Our background in home fragrances gave us a leg up. We already knew what to look for in terms of quality and had honed our product knowledge over time. This foundation allowed us to approach perfume-making with confidence and creativity, setting the stage for the launch of our EDP range.
Listening to Our Customers
When we launched our perfume line, we didn’t hold back. We started with an impressive 48 fragrances—an ambitious number for a relatively new offering. This was all during a period of rapid business growth. We actively engaged our customers, conducting small focus groups and gathering feedback. This input shaped our initial selection and guided improvements.
Opening Up to Wholesale
By 2024, our dedication caught the attention of not only individual consumers but small businesses, both in the UK and across mainland Europe. We began receiving requests for wholesale and white-label partnerships from countries like Germany, Hungary, and France. This interest encouraged us to take the leap into wholesale, via our sister business Wholesale Perfumery —a significant step involving more regulatory and administrative work but one that we were ready for.
Part of Everyday Life
It’s humbling to know that our EDPs have found a place in people’s handbags and dressing tables as everyday alternatives to designer brands. We respect the original creations and the craftsmanship behind them, but there’s something special about offering a comparable scent from our factory in middle England that people genuinely appreciate.
What We Want You to Know
At Nuscents, we sell on honesty. Our perfumes can last all day, but that depends on the conditions. Whether it’s a luxury designer fragrance or a more affordable inspired scent, perfumes need a bit of help. Spray them on pulse points and allow the scent to develop on your skin. While we strive to replicate the scent profile as closely as possible, subtle differences are part of the experience, especially for devoted fans of a particular fragrance. We’re upfront about this and focus on delivering quality, affordability, and reasonable longevity.
Both designer and designer-inspired perfumes have their place, and we aim to bridge that gap without cutting corners. We don’t do "awful versions." We do our very best.
Conclusion
Whether you're new to Nuscents or have followed us since our early days, we invite you to discover our Eau De Parfum range. It’s a collection born from passion, customer feedback, and a relentless pursuit of quality, all with one goal in mind: making luxury affordable.
